We Wish You A Merry Christmas

*Boba and the Bounty Hunters singing*

WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS
WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS
WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS
AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR

{Hey everybody, sorry for not posting at all this month. Anna and I have both been beyond busy, and since this is a side hobby of ours, it got put on the back burner. That said, we hope everyone was as ABSOLUTELY THRILLED by The Force Awakens as we were! Once the holiday stress dies down one of us will post a review on it. Anyway, Merry, Merry Christmas and may the Force be with you.}

November's Fanart (Loki Addition)

Good morrow, dear readers. I am here with November's fanart. (Yes, yes, I know I'm late. I'm sorry.) Because of Thanksgiving and a whole lot of other things (you don't wanna know), I completely forgot about this until now. And because I'm short on time and all that, I didn't have any fanart on hand but what you're about to see.

It's all Loki. I was trying to draw his helmet and looked up ref pictures and liked these along the way. So now I've explained myself. On with the Loki fanart.

Brothers of Asgard by Kaysha Siemens. Look at Thor's wrist thing. That's an engraving of Loki's helmet, guys. I think my heart cracked.

Loki by Hallpen. Don't be so sad, Loki.

Loki doodle by Lehanan. I have no idea how this classifies as merely a doodle, but oh well. I wish I could do that.

a young and troubled Loki by Burdge. My drawing skills are diminishing as the moments pass. I would like to take this moment to mention that his hair is amazing and it's pretty hard to draw hair that well.

God has horns by kittrose. Look at the vivid color and feeling in this piece. Ah, if only I could paint.

Blood and Snow by I-lon. Very feel-sy and stuff. Why.

Loki - Do You Trust Me? by quelchii. That's it. I've given up. I'll never reach this level of awesome drawing skills. What am I doing with my life?

Thor and Loki in the movie by Ricken-Art. Aww. That is all I have to say.

Loki Tom Hiddleston by KerdzevadzeART. OKAY THAT'S IT. THIS IS THE PINNACLE OF ALL PINNACLES. I AM LEAVING EARTH IN ORDER TO ATTEMPT SUCH A MASTERPIECE.

Can't find the artist. But look at this lovely work. Watercolor in all its glory. My feelings of failure has suffered their final defeat.

As a final note and special treat:

Can't find the artist on this one either. Just imagine this scenario though guys.

Thor: Brother, look at these shirts of tee! They can be changed so that mortals may know us for who we are!

Loki: This is stupid. I don't get lost.

Thor: Never underestimate the confusion Midgard puts on us, brother. It is better to be safe.

Loki: ....

Thor: ....

Loki: *crosses arms and huffs* Fine. But I'll only wear it in crowded areas.

Thor: *beams happily* Do you want red or greeen?

Loki: *groans*

Anyway, I believe that's enough for tonight. I hope y'all had great Thanksgivings and will have a great Christmas season! Catch ya later,

Erin

A Moment of Appreciation For: The Eagle of the Ninth

Today, as a follow-up of sorts to Anna's post on Sherlock Holmes, I'm here to bring before you another under-appreciated fandom.

That's right, folks, I'm gonna talk about Rosemary Sutcliff's Eagle of the Ninth. After LotR, this is probably my favorite fandom. No joke.

Now, for everyone who is utterly confused at the moment and considering googling what the heck is eagle of the ninth, I shall explain.

Marcus Flavius Aquila, brand-new cohort centurion to a fort in Roman Britain, has longed all his life to be right where he is. Twenty years before, his father and his father's legion had been lost to the mists of Northern Caledonia, which is somewhere is Scotland, in case you were wondering. The family name had been forever tarnished by the loss of the Eagle standard of the legion. Marcus has a couple of wild hopes that he might find it and restore it to its rightful place in Rome.

But within his first few months at the fort, Marcus is wounded severely and honorably discharged from the army. He is subsequently sent to live with his uncle in Calleva, a town two hundred leagues south.

(Please keep reading, this is the important part.)

While there, his uncle takes him to the Saturnalia games, where a young Briton slave is matched against a trained gladiator. I'm not giving any spoilers, but the slave makes an impression on him and he saves the poor guy's life. Later he buys him out of the arena and Esca, the slave, becomes his body-servant.

Move on a few months. Several things have happened. Marcus decides to go search for the Eagle of the Ninth, and Esca goes with him. Drama and action and fights with natives occur.

Now, if you managed to get through all that, wonderful. My praise for the book is unending, so I'm not going to bore you with much of that. But I will say that you must read it before seeing the movie, as it is infinitely better.

Yes, you heard me right. There's a movie! I was disappointed when I first saw it, I must say. Though they did a great job with the choice of actors and scenery, and it had an authentic feel, they left out and changed a few key parts of the story. It's a good movie anyhow, with great reasons to see it. The foremost being:

IT HAS JAMIE BELL AS ESCA. Esca was my favorite character, so I was THRILLED when I saw who was going to be him. ASDFGHJKL;. Also, it has Channing Tatum as Marcus. Don't like him as much, but he did a good job. Oh. And looks who's Uncle Aquila:

DONALD SUTHERLAND. Good reason to watch.

Now because I'm awesome, I'm going to show you some amazing fanart. I combed the internet for ages to find these, so be happy.

This piece is gorgeous. The Seal Prince was cool, if a bit unnecessarily brutal. Evil rat.

Cottia and Cub. This is a reason to read the book. They left them out of the movie and I felt like strangling every person involved.

And because I'm super nice, I'll give you a fanfic to read when you get done with the book. Movie fans won't understand it, so hehehhehe:

Heron Feathers by Carmarthen. Note: I did not screen this author or any of their other stories, just this particular one. Thank you for not suing me.

And because I love you all, here is a .gif of Esca laughing among the Seal People.

You're welcome.

Tribute to The Hunger Games

Well, Mockingjay Pt. 2 is coming up soon. For us Hunger Games fans, this fact is the foretaste of a barrage of feelings, largely consisting of an odd mixture of angst and excitement. As a tribute to this amazing series, I've compiled everything HG that I could find. Please step this way to enter the arena.

First, we're starting out with the fanart. I'm really, really sorry, but none of these are credited. If you know the artist or website these came from, please drop a line and tell us.

I love this piece of work. It perfectly portrays Katniss' spirit and the feeling in it is amazing.

This piece broke my heart. It's so sweet and perfect! I can almost hear her singing.

This one also hurt me badly. It's so realistic--her hair is disheveled and half-down, her face is bruised and scabbed, she's dirty, and she looks like she's about to cry. The real Katniss, the still-sixteen and scared-of-dying and worried-about-what-will-happen-to-the-people-she'll-leave-behind Katniss, is shining through and showing us what it must have been like.

This picture of Cressida is perfectly done and so detailed. As a pencil artist, this makes me want to bash my head against a rock in light of my inadequacy.

This brought a certain mistiness to my eyes. Such a beautiful tribute to my favorite tribute.

I love the moodiness and delicacy in this piece. The vivid colors give such a feeling of depth and emotion.

Again, the vividness of this painting brings out an emotion that transfers to the seer. The peace and casualty of the setting just makes me want to hug someone. (Why couldn't they have had this?!)

And now I move on from fanart to the abundant tumblr posts and memes:

#PEETA SASSY MELLARK FOREVER

Somehow I find myself agreeing with this fan theory.

Which leads me to make the movement: all famous people are from the Capitol. Period.

#fangirlinitlikecaesar

Whoops. Encouragement fail.

*I set fiyaaahhhh to the breeeeaaaadd...*

Seriously guys, this could be a wildly popular T.V. sitcom. I don't watch T.V., but I would pay for it just to watch this. We should get up a petition.

Hipsta Cinna ain't takin' none of your arguments.

This is what we all wish for.

And finally...

Who else is ultra-pumped for Mockingjay Pt. 2? Comment and let us know your thoughts.

9 Headcanons That Are Spot On

Hey! Anna here. Today I have some epic headcanons to share with you. There's a ton of headcanon out there, but I love these. They're feelsy, humorous, and adorable. I hope you like them as much as I do!

1. Rise of the Guardians/How To Train Your Dragon crossover.
*gasp* Isn't that sad?? But I can completely imagine this happening.

2. The Doctor and His Companions
Awwwww.

3.
So, maybe it doesn't fit it with the canon. But isn't it beautiful?

4. Cactus Juice....
Ahahahaha. It would be just like Sokka....

5. Texts from Arthur
Oh, Arthur.

6. Disney Magic

That actually kinda makes sense. It would fit in with the whole Rapzunel-is-their-cousin theory.

7. S.H.I.E.L.D Survival Tips
I can see this being an unofficial magazine that the agents smuggle around to each other.

8. Another Tip

This was too adorable to not put on this list.

9. Spider-Phobia
Haha, the Hermes cabin strikes again.

Okay, that's all but I have a little bonus fanart for you guys...
Leading me to say that the Everlark ship should be called Toast. As the Pinterest caption states: The Girl on Fire + The Boy With The Bread = Toast. It works, doesn't it?

That's all for today. Leave a comment and let us know what you think!! Thanks everyone!
